Performance of shingled solar modules under partial shading

Significant progress in the development and commercialization of electrically conductive adhesives has been made. This makes shingling a very attractive approach for solar cell interconnection. In this study, we investigate shading tolerance two types modules based on shingle interconnection: first, already commercialized string approach, second, matrix technology where cells are intrinsically interconnected parallel series. An experimentally validated LTspice model predicts major advantages power output layout under partial shading. Diagonal as well random 1.6-m2 module is examined. Power gains up to 73.8 % diagonal 96.5 found compared standard approach. The key factor an increased current extraction due lateral flows. Especially minor shading, benefits from fill well. Under find probability parts being bypassed be reduced by 40 comparison module. consequence, overall risk hotspot occurrence decreased significantly.
